Our History
Back in 2004
Tutoring Australasia was founded in 2004, with the aim to make high-quality, one-to-one tutoring available to all Australian students and families, defying socio-economic status, the tyranny of distance, and assisting a time-poor society. With this aim, ‘yourtutor’ was introduced, first to public libraries in Greater Western Sydney, to enable entire council areas to access one-to-one online tutoring.
Fairfield City Library Service was the first to innovate with the exciting new service, and the service continues to grow in popularity there every year. In 2010 we delivered more than 5,000 live, online homework tutorials to Fairfield-based students.
Since then, more than 300 public libraries, 100 schools, and several tertiary institutions around Australia have started offering yourtutor to their local communities and student bases.
We continue to offer yourtutor to institutions - schools, libraries, universities, TAFE Colleges, pathways colleges, learning support centres, organisations, not-for-profits, and more.
This ensures that learning outcomes are scalable and equitable, regardless of a family’s socio-economic status or geography.
We take our clients’ satisfaction very seriously. If you are a client and have questions, requests, or comments, please contact our Client Services team at any time for support.

And now...
After seven years of discussion with primary and high school teachers, we were excited to launch a brand new service to directly benefit educators and schools, and complement our hugely successful online tutoring service. The new service aims to streamline the way teachers spend their preparation time and provide better tools to analyse student progress.
SkillsBuilder started in 2010 as a bank of thousands of literacy and numeracy questions, so that students could revise their learning out of hours in a fun and engaging online environment. This is still the largest interactive database of syllabus related questions and NAPLAN-based practice exams.
Teachers wanted even more, and began asking questions: Can I control the questions? What if I want to see the overall class performance? Can I set a due date? What if my senior chemistry, physics, or biology students want to revise as well?
In 2011 the brand new SkillsBuilder service for teachers launched at primary schools and high schools in every state and territory across Australia.
SkillsBuilder is still founded on teacher feedback and advice. If you are an educator and have ideas you’d like to share, we want to hear them. You can reach me on:
